Before I even booked my flight to Japan, I was already planning my outfits. From the neon streets of Tokyo to the serene temples of Kyoto, I wanted each look to match the vibe of wherever I was exploring. Japan’s fashion scene is iconic—effortlessly cool, creative, and full of personality—so I knew I had to step up my game. In this post, I’m sharing all the fits I wore during my trip, along with some thoughts on how each one held up while sightseeing, eating way too much street food, and soaking in all the beauty this country has to offer.

Depicted in the pictures are my favorite pair of jeans ever. They are so versatile and easy to re-wear. They are the Edikted low rise slouchy jeans. For Day 1 in Tokyo, I paired them with this top from Anthropology. It is the Maeve Mock-Neck Asymmetrical Muscle Top.

The jeans above are the same Edikted ones. These can be purchased on a multitude of websites such as Edikted, Pacsun, Tillys, Nordstrom, and more. My sweater top is from Zara. The material is perfect, especially for the weather we had in Kyoto. It is easy to wear a thin top underneath for extra layering, but I did not. You could also wear it unbuttoned. The blue scarf is from Shein!

There is nothing I love more than an all-black outfit. For this, I wore a simple pair of baggy jeans from Shein. I paired that with a black sweater, and the cutest cardigan sweater over that. This is the Mina Oversized Jacket by Free People. It was one of those outfits that didn’t try too hard but still felt put together—easy to throw on in the morning and perfect for wandering around the city all day. Whether I ducked into a quiet coffee shop or wove through the crowds in Shibuya, it just worked. Black on black, always a win.

The most satisfying part of fashion is getting an outfit on a deal. This dress was found on Shein and is absolutely adorable. It fit the vibe of Tokyo perfectly and aligned excellently with the weather. I wore this to dinner one warm night, so I did not need a coat.

I really liked this outfit because I don’t typically wear blue jeans, ironically. These jeans are low-waisted baggy jeans by Hollister. My top is from H&M and has some sheerness to it. I wore a light pink laced bra underneath, and it practically blended with the top. My shoes are platformed Converse. The weather was off and on cold, so I paired this cute cropped jacket with it. It can be worn both buttoned or not and has a cute red lining on the sleeves.
